A coloring book for dog lovers of all ages!
The first breeds accepted into the AKC were all Sporting dogs, but the question quickly arose -- what to do with breeds that were not Sporting? The AKC Non-Sporting Group became a solution and a catch-all.
Today it has the widest diversity of any group -- from the endurance king of breeds, the Dalmatian, created to run 40 miles a day behind a coach, to the Bulldog, bred for indomitable courage but best known today for being a sweet marshmallow, to the ultimate powder puff, the Bichon Frise.
Like the Hound Group and the Maxwell Award-winning Terrier Group, Toy Group, and Herding Group volumes, “Color Me Canine (Non-Sporting Group)” has details about each breed, from energy level to life expectancy, from coat care to trainability. Where do they come from? Do they shed? It's all in there.
Each breed has a distinctive, non-copyrighted coloring page. I have done all the artwork myself. I love detailed, realistic, yet whimsical work and I hope you do too. On the inside back and front covers are precise full-color renditions of each breed. That way, you can duplicate the colors or go wild; the inspiration (and the fun) will be all yours.
The plethora of breeds in the world never ceases to amaze me – there is one for every circumstance and situation. I love the variety available and am astounded by the dedication of breeders who have worked so hard to create, maintain and improve our canine best friend.
This is the fifth volume of my coloring book series “Color Me Canine”, which will eventually have all the AKC breeds. Two Groups to go!
